Kendrick Lamar Will Receive the Key to the City of Compton.

Kendrick Lamar has proudly represented Compton for his entire career. Like the way

The Game did a decade ago, Kendrick
Lamar has made the world pay attention to
Compton with his music. Now, the city of
Compton is going to honor Kendrick Lamar for all he’s done. Compton Mayor Aja Brown took to Twitter
today (Jan. 14) and announced that
Kendrick Lamar would receive the key to the
city. “Kendrick Lamar, you inspire millions plus
rep Compton with honor!” Mayor Aja Brown
wrote. “Excited to give you the key to the

The ceremony will take place on Feb. 13,
which means that Kendrick Lamar will
receive the key to his hometown just days
before the 2016 Grammy Awards Ceremony occurs. It could be a special couple of days
for Kendrick Lamar as seems poised to win
at least a few Grammy’s this year. The TDE
rapper leads the way with 11 Grammy’s
nominations, just one shy of Michael
Jackson’s record of 12 nominations. Kendrick Lamar is nominated in such
categories as Album of the Year, Song of
the Year, Rap Album of the Year and Best
Rap Performance. It’s clearly a great time to be Kendrick
Lamar. The Compton rapper has been
racking up honors for years, but he also got
to have a private meeting with President Barack Obama. While the critical and
commercial success of To Pimp A Butterfly is something Kendrick Lamar could boast
about for years, things have
reached another level when an artist attains
the status it takes to land a private
conversation with the President of the
United States.
